The DNTS‑8 time server is a high‑tech, intelligent, stand‑alone clock synchronization server that operates on the NTP/SNTP protocols and delivers high‑precision time. It obtains standard time‑signal data from GPS satellites and disseminates this information across the network, enabling devices such as computers and controllers to synchronize with the reference clock. When all external signals are unavailable, the DNTS‑8 relies on its built‑in temperature‑compensated crystal oscillator for holdover, achieving a holdover accuracy of up to 1 × 10⁻⁹. The DNTS‑8 transmits standard time information over TCP/IP networks and supports multiple popular time‑distribution protocols, including NTP and time/UDP; it also accommodates custom‑defined time‑broadcast packets via configurable UDP ports. The port numbers for NTP and time/UDP are fixed at 123 and 37, respectively, as specified in RFC‑123 and RFC‑37. Additionally, the DNTS‑8 supports the broadcast mode of the SNTP protocol.
