Product Overview
The Modbus protocol has become an open, widely adopted industrial protocol supported by numerous vendors. It is increasingly being chosen as the data communication protocol of choice.
The Modbus/RTU protocol defines a serial communication protocol that enables a master device to read from or write to one or more slave devices in real time. Although Modbus is not a highly sophisticated protocol, its simplicity and high flexibility make it suitable for many industrial applications.
The Modbus/TCP protocol is an extension of the Modbus/RTU protocol; it specifies how Modbus/RTU messages are transmitted and implemented over TCP/IP networks.
Modbus/TCP is just as simple and flexible as the Modbus/RTU protocol.
